Happy 10th Anniversary Engaged Scholar Journal!
Ten years ago today, we published our first issue. What began as a bold idea of publishing stories about taking scholarship from the high, hard ground of theory and institutions to the fertile plains where research encounters real life, and theory shakes hands with practice, the Engaged Scholar Journal is now the only Canadian platform for community-engaged research, teaching, and learning. It meant crossing disciplines, borders, and boundaries of all kinds.
ESJ sought to mirror the heart and mind of academics, community leaders, and practitioners working in the field together and co-authoring narratives of practical concerns and solutions over the last 10 years. We published issues to draw attention to reconciliation, display co-created knowledge, question the status quo, amplify Indigenous voices, and start conversations that carried on even after the article’s publication.
Cheers to ESJ's first decade, and to many more of rewriting the rules together; raise your mug (or a published manuscript), or high-five your community partner.
